The Nordic Development Fund looks into Icelandic cooperation in geothermal development

An NDF delegation visited Iceland last week. The purpose of the visit was to get acquainted with Iceland's experience with geothermal energy.

At NDF´s request, the Icelandic International Development Agency (ICEIDA) organised an agenda during their visit to Iceland and the delegation met with officials of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, Iceland GeoSurvey (ÍSOR), ICEIDA and UNU-GTP.

As published on the webpage by ICEIDA, the NDF delegation had special interest to ICEIDA´S five-year capacity building project for the geothermal sector in Nicaragua. Iceland GeoSurvey is the main consultant for the project. The primary goal of the project is to enhance the utilization of geothermal resources in Nicaragua for power production. The project aims at building capacity in many fields of geothermal utilization among Nicaraguans, particularly within the public sector but also within the private sector.
