More geothermal projects in the Caribbean Sea

Iceland GeoSurvey (ÍSOR) has recently signed a contract on logging of production wells in the island Guadeloupe in the Caribbean Sea. Logging equipment, a logging truck and experts will be sent to the island in early summer.

Since 1996 ÍSOR has participated in various projects in the island, such as the stimulation of boreholes, technical consultancy during drilling, along with temperature and pressure logging and tracer tests. There is a 15 MW power plant in operation in Guadeloupe.

Since 2011 ÍSOR has participated in consultancy and research connected to geothermal exploration and experimental drilling in the island Dominica with promising results. In mid-summer further drilling will be started in Dominica and the government has got a contract with ÍSOR on continuing geological exploration and borehole logging. The boreholes will be drilled by Iceland Drillers ltd. (Jarðboranir).

Besides these projects in the Caribbean Sea a contract has been signed on research and sampling during flow tests of boreholes in the island Martinique due to take place this autumn.
The Geothermal Division of the French Geological Institute, CFG Services oversees the research carried out in Guadeloupe and Martinique.
