ÍSOR took part at the European Geothermal PhD day in Potsdam, Germany, which was held today, February 12th, 2010.
Numerous PhD students work in the growing field of geothermal research in Europe. That is why the idea was born to conduct a European Geothermal PhD Day where interested PhD students were invited to present and discuss their research in this field. It is hoped that this event will contribute to the build-up of a network where participants can exchange their ideas and knowledge leading to synergies, collaborations, and a positive influence on their work.
ÍSOR was represented by two students in Geophysics, Arnar Már Vilhjálmsson and Héðinn Björnsson who presented their PhD projects, and two students in geology, Helga M. Helgadóttir and Sveinborg Hlíf Gunnarsdóttir who presented their Master projects. These projects aim at better understanding of geothermal fields. They are collaborative projects between ÍSOR, University of Iceland, University of Reykjavík from Iceland and their European counterparts.
