IDDP Krafla - the next phase

The third phase of the Iceland Deep Drilling Project (IDDP) was launched on March 25th in Krafla, North Iceland. The 800 m deep well will be, during the next three phases, extended down to 4500 m. The first two phases were drilled in 2008 by the drill-rigs „Saga“ and „Jötunn“ but the remainder of the well will be drilled by the drill-rig „Týr“. ÍSOR provides varied specialized service during the drilling of the IDDP well, including extensive borehole logging and technical consultancy. Two borehole geologists and two borehole loggers will be at the site for the duration of the drilling part of the project. Further information on the IDDP is available on the project‘s website: http://www.iddp.is/
