Geological map of IcelandGEOLOGICAL MAP OF SOUTHWEST ICELAND 1:100 000

The map is in the scale of 1:100 000 and is based on several maps in the scales 1:20 000 – 1:50 000 made by ÍSOR and its forerunner, National Energy Authority, for different customers. The maps have been simplified, revised and filled in with new geological mapping. The oldest units on the map are 4 million years old and the youngest are lavas from an eruption on Reykjanes peninsula in the years 1211-1240 A.D. Altogether there are about 160 different lava flows on the map. 40 selected sites of interest are pointed out with further description on the webpage Maps.

The map is distributed by Forlagid.

Geothermal Power MapGEOTHERMAL POWER MAP - GEOTHERMAL POWER GENERATION FIELDS

In a joint effort, Icelandic GeoSurvey (ISOR) and ThinkGeoEnergy publish the Global Geothermal Power Map.

The map was created using  data from various sources. Background, place names and boundaries are from the Natural Earth Data & Etopo2. Locations of geothermal sites are compiled by ThinkGeoEnergy and Iceland GeoSurvey. Production capacity is from the International Geothermal Association (IGA) database.

The map is currently only available in a limited number of copies, but might be available for sale in the near future.
