The course was financed by Pertamina Geothermal Energy (PGE) and SenterNovem. The 16 participants who completed the course were professional engineers and geoscientists from Pertamina PGE and the Ministry of Mines.

Short course: Short Course IV on Exploration for Geothermal Resources
Location: Lake Bogoria Hotel and Lake Naivasha Simba Lodge, Kenya
Date: November 1 - 22, 2009
Organizer: UNU-GTP, Kenya Electricity Generating Company, Ltd. (KenGen) and Geothermal Development Company (GDC).

The lectures covered all sciences related to geothermal surface exploration, i.e. geology, geophysics, geochemistry and environmental science, together with an introduction to reservoir assessment and geothermal drilling, all demonstrated by numerous field examples. Three days were devoted to the status of geothermal exploration and development in the region and planning of geothermal projects, and finally, four days for geothermal project work. Further information on unugtp.is

Short course: Surface Exploration for Geothermal Resources
Locaton: Achucaban and Santa Tecla, El Salvador

The course was for young professionals in Central America and the Caribbean. It was a two week course with one week of field work in the geothermal field Ahuachapan and a second week of lectures and exercises at the head quarters of LaGeo in Santa Tecla.

Workshop: Workshop for Decision Makers on Direct Heating Use of Geothermal Resources in Asia
Location: Tianjin, China
Date: May 11 - 18, 2008

The aim of the workshop was to give high level decision makers from respective energy ministries and leading geothermal agencies in the region an overview of some of the key issues in the development of geothermal direct use for space heating, with special focus on sustainability, CO₂ emission reduction and reinjection.
